Dr. John McElveen, DDS, MD, PharmD, is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon. In addition to running Charles County Surgical Arts, Dr. McElveen is also an instructor at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, and at Howard University in Washington, DC.
Additionally, Dr. McElveen works as a surgery consultant for ClearChoice Dental Implant Center in Rockville, MD. There, he performs All-on-4 implant reconstruction surgeries, including complex cases that require specialty angled implants due to lack of bone mass. Dr. McElveen has successfully performed nearly 1,500 of these reconstructive surgeries for patients in the last two years. Dr. McElveen is servicing patients from Waldorf, White Plains, Saint Charles and the surrounding areas in Maryland.

Dr. McElveen is driven by a personal mission to bring positive change to all patients under his management, and he thrives on working collaboratively with other doctors to develop treatment strategies that improve his patients’ oral health and their overall dental function.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Dr. McElveen earned his Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from Xavier University of Louisiana.

In 2014, Dr. McElveen earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine. He then completed his four-year residency program as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at the Truman Medical Center–Hospital Hill Emergency in Kansas City, MO.
Dr. McElveen has also earned certificates in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Preliminary General Surgery. He is devoted to learning everything about his craft and has particular areas of interest in extractions, bone grafting, jaw surgery, managing complex head and neck trauma, and sleep apnea.
Dr. McElveen lives in Washington, DC, with his family. He believes the secret to his success has been maintaining a healthy relationship with his family, especially with his children.
In his spare time, Dr. McElveen enjoys doing fun activities with his children such as riding bikes, bowling, and playing video games together.
